Remember that bachelorette party I went to in February? Elsbeth and Dave got married in Maine on March 22, 2014. The reception was held at Sunday River and we all stayed at The Grand Summit hotel for the weekend. We had a nice weekend spending time with good friends, going to the beautiful wedding, and getting in some skiing! I’m an awful skier and have always been terrified of it. My parents forced me to learn it growing up in New England and I’m very happy they did because even though I’m slow, I can still participate in it. The awesome thing about the hotel we were staying at is that there’s a chair lift right outside the hotel. You don’t need to pack up a car full of ski gear in order to get to the mountain which makes everything so much less of a production and enjoyable.
Dinner with friends in the hotel at CAMP.
It was so nice for the couple to provide complimentary shuttle service for their guests. We all hopped on a school bus on the way to the Church for Elsbeth & Dave’s vow exchange.
I tried to snap some pictures of the bride & groom walking down the aisle, but everything came out blurry. Does anyone have tips for snapping clear motion pictures on a camera? Sorry for the poor picture quality. This was taken with a real camera too (aka not an iphone).
After the vows were exchanged at the church, we returned to the hotel where the couple did a ski entrance outside in their wedding clothes. It was so cute and impressive that the bride did this in her wedding gown!
We watched the ski entrance from a deck outside the hotel which was a perfect photo location. I didn’t wear a coat solely to get a picture in our nice clothes instead of the same winter coat I’m always wearing.
A picture of the three Daves. One of my friends is engaged to a David (on the left) and my other two friends are married to Daves.
Post cocktail hour and before dinner. Party time! We all had a fun time celebrating the night away. Cheers to Elsbeth & Dave.
October 4, 2013 (a year before our wedding), Kraig and I had our amazing Wedding Photographer Kate McElwee snap our engagement pictures at the Arnold Arboretum and Lazr Anderson Park. She did an amazing job and all the photos below are hers. There are plenty more photos, but I won’t post every single one. If you want to see more, let me know and I can send you a link.
We had a lot of fun with Kate snapping our photos. We were both very nervous about it because neither of us are comfortable in front of the camera, but Kate did an amazing job getting us to laugh and feel at ease. I can’t believe these photos were taken 6 months ago and my wedding is about 6 months away. EEks! Better pick out some bridesmaid dresses.
Last January, a bunch of women I know (not all of them are in this picture) spent a night in Chatham for a friend’s Bachelorette party.
We stayed at The Chatham Bars Inn and enjoyed staying right near the water. Even though it was the middle of winter, it was still beautiful and a lot of fun. It was very affordable because it was off season, but I think the rates are very high during the Summertime.
I’ll spare you the boozy details of the evening and let you know that everyone enjoyed their dinner at Del Mar. We followed dinner with dancing to live music at a local bar in town.
The next morning we had brunch at the hotel’s restaurant and scared our waiter off by asking for refills of water and coffee every time he came to the table. I noticed the restaurant service here is consistently slow. Kraig and I went to their bar for a drink over the summer and experienced very slow service at the bar. We were ignored until we hunted down a waitress for a glass of wine. Fast forward to brunch in January and our waiter at brunch was very slow and put out when we asked him for a pitcher of water for the table. Since I was getting a good deal for my stay I wasn’t upset, but if I were a traveler spending a lot of money to stay there in summer I would probably get very upset about this. The concierge, staff, and our driver were all very friendly and helpful during our stay.
I think all the ladies enjoyed their trip and I’m happy the bride got to celebrate in such a beautiful part of Massachusetts! Here’s a view from the porch of The Chatham Bars Inn.
Definitely a great vacation spot. I didn’t get a chance to check out their Spa, but I hope to experience it one day.
My friend Krissy is one of those friends that everyone loves being around because she likes to make people laugh and is funny. She is usually up for anything fun and not likely to pass judgement unless you do something ridiculous like use poor grammar. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s a good thing she doesn’t read this blog or my grammar would probably drive her crazy. haha.
This year she decided to have a birthday party roast of herself at The Stadium in Quincy. That’s her in the gold dress for her golden birthday.
I was hesitant to roast Krissy at first because I didn’t feel comfortable with the situation. However, I realized not roasting her would be more of a disappointment to her than me making fun of her. Everyone had a lot of fun and I think most of the speeches ended on a positive note. We definitely put James Franco’s roast to shame. 🙂
