A Summer Wedding in Colorado.

I spent the past weekend in Denver, Colorado for my friend’s wedding weekend. Kraig and I flew into Denver very late on Thursday night, so we went straight to our AirBnB rental to unpack and sleep.

We woke up on Friday PUMPED for breakfast at Jelly with friends. We were introduced to Jelly on our last trip to Denver and couldn’t wait to go back on this trip. My favorite things here are the jelly doughnut holes, Tres Leches Pancakes, and their amazing iced coffee.

After breakfast, some of us checked out what a dispensary was like since it’s such a foreign concept to us Massholes. That was an interesting and surprisingly fun experience for an adult. I was also able to get my hands on some Deschutes beers to enjoy on the porch of our rental.

After relaxing for a bit, we went to a wedding get together at Cheesman Park. Dinner that night was at Dos Santos which was SOO GOOD. The tacos were great and the bill was very affordable for a large party of 8 consuming cocktails, appetizers, and tacos. I highly recommend going here if you’re a foodie that loves Tacos.

Saturday was our day in the mountains. The plan was to do Bear Lake Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park with a group of wedding guests. Unfortunately, the park was turning around cars when we got there because the trail was too full. It may have been for the best because a lot of people in our group could feel the altitude sickness. We ended up just driving around the park to take in some views. We drove up Fall River Road and made a stop at The Alpine Visitor Center before heading out of the park out through the Estes area, through Boulder, with a pit stop at Avery Brewing Company. The food looked so good here, but we were on a timeline to get our Zipcar back, so we just sampled some beers.

This was a long day in the car, so we quickly freshened up before meeting friends at Torchy’s for dinner.  This place was really good and popular, but I liked Dos Santos more.

On Sunday morning, we grabbed brunch at Vert. This place was sooo good. Kraig and I shared the frittata,  L’ENTRECÔTE (Arugula, Skirt Steak, Walnut Mustard) sandwich, and a salted caramel cookie. The sandwich was out of this world and the salad accompanying the frittata was fresh and tasty.

We got ready for the rehearsal dinner, then met up with some friends at Crooked Stave Brewery.  This place is a sour beer lover’s heaven. I loved this brewery. We visited the Great Divide Brewery afterwards (not pictured below), but I didn’t really like the beers I tried there.  After the breweries, we attended the rehearsal dinner.

The wedding was on Monday night and beautifully located at The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park.  The Bride and Groom had a ton of cute thoughtful details including home-brewed beer and Voodoo Doughnuts for dessert! They even provided free transportation to and from the wedding venue.

In case anyone is curious, my purple maxi dress that I wore to the wedding is by Flynn Skye (available here and here).

Tuesday morning we woke up early to catch our flight back to Boston. See you later Colorado. You’re always a good time!

Summer Makeup Look.

I thought it might be fun to feature an everyday summer makeup look on the blog. This is a simple everyday look that’s not overbearing, but adds some color to my pale skin for the work day.

I started out with a freshly washed and moisturized face before starting to apply the MAKE UP FOR EVER Full Cover Concealer in Pink Porcelain 1 (available here).  I  gently applied this concealer under my eye area with a tiny beauty blender. After this is fully worked into my skin, I applied the Murad Acne Treatment Concealer in Light (available here, here,  here, and here). This will go on any red zits I have on my face. Next up is a light application of The Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer in Porcelain (available here, here, and here). I let this sit for a minute or so on my face before applying The Laura Mercier Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder Shine Control (available here and here). Then I take a bronzer brush to apply The Benfit Hoola Bronzer (available herehere, and here). Once the bronzer is all blended in, I used my clean fingers to apply The Benefit Majorette Cream to Powder Blush (available here and here) with Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Fresh Melon layered over it (available herehere, and here).

For my eyes, I apply MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly over the lids (available herehere and here) with MAC Paint Pot in Groundbreak applied as an eyeliner (available here and here).  I filled in my brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade in Taupe (available herehere and here) applied with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush #12 (available here and here). After that, I applied the Topshop Glow Highlighter in Polish (available here) to my browbones and the top of my cheekbones. The Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (available here) is used on my top lashes followed by a couple of coats of Illamasqu Masquara Gain in Black (available here).  I set this all with a few sprays of  The Urban Decay Cooling Spray (available here, here, here, and here). Last, but not least I put some MAC Lipstick on in Tropic Tonic (available here and here).

Lip Colors To Try This Summer.

I thought it’d be fun to round up some of my favorite lipsticks that I’ve been loving this past year or so. While my lipstick wishlist is never ending, these are ones that I’ve tried and can vouch for.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in Color 9 pearly fuchsia (available here and here).  This is a long lasting lipstick that is great to wear at night or to add some jazz to your boring workday like I do.

NARS Lipstick in Schiap – semi matte shocking pink (available here, here, and here). This is another long-wear lipstick that I’m more prone to wear at night or on a sunshiny day in the city.

Butter London ‘Lippy Bloody Brilliant’ Lip Crayon in Disco Biscuit (available here and here). I love this lip color, but it is not long lasting. It comes off fast with drinking beverages. It has a nice peppermint smell to it and feels moisturizing upon application to the lips.  Just keep in mind that you’ll have to re-apply it throughout the day. I wouldn’t recommend this for a wedding or event where you’ll be doing a lot of eating and drinking.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Lip Stain & Shine in Coral Oasis (available here and here).  This is perfect for summer and the lip stain makes the color last longer than a normal lip gloss. This is great for everyday lip wear and a go to for me during the summer months.

Here’s a picture of all of them on for a frame of color reference. Starting in the top left and going clockwise is Josie Maran Coconut Water, Nars Lipstick in Schiap, Butter London Lippy in Disco Biscuit, and Makeup Forever in Pearly Fuchsia.

Here is also a Hand Swatch photo in descending order: Butter London, Josie Maran, Makeup Forever, and NARS.IMG_5559

Not pictured above is FRESH Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15 (available here and here).  This is my favorite everyday lip staple. I use this pretty much every single day. I love the Coral color in the summertime, but also love every single color they have that I’ve tried! It keeps your lips super moist and helps protect them from the sun. Your lips are something that can be easy to forget to shield from the sun, but it’s important to protect them like the rest of your face.
