Pura Vida! Costa Rica November 2010.

Costa Rica is probably one of my favorite places I’ve been to on earth. There are so many places to explore in CR, so it’s hard to pick where to spend your time with a week long visit. Kraig and I flew into San Jose and spent our first night of the trip at The Adventure Inn. We didn’t really explore San Jose, but the hotel provided a clean and safe stay for the night. We grabbed a car rental the next day and began our 3 hour drive to  Arenal for the first half of our trip.We stayed at The Arenal Nayara Hotel & Gardens.  After checking in, we had two wonderful massage treatments at their spa.  We started off with a Thai Massage which is basically one of the best massages I’ve had in my life. You wear loose clothing and the masseuse pulls/stretches your body in a healing way. It almost feels like yoga meets a massage. After the Thai massage, we finished with a reflexology treatment on our feet. This is the first spa treatment in my life that I actually fell asleep to.  I found the spa in Arenal luxurious with a very well trained staff.  The next day was spent  Ziplining which is probably one of the most daring things I’ve done.  One of the zip lines is 656 feet high!! I highly suggest zipling here because you get views of Arenal, the forest, and Arenal Lake. After we finished ziplining, we  grabbed a bite to eat at Lava Rocks Cafe and then hiked down to the La Fortuna Waterfall. The last day in Arenal was spent with a half day pass to the Tabacon Hot Springs. I almost felt like I was at an adult water park, but everything is clean and lush. There are hot springs in other locations too, but we felt like Tabacon suited us best. After we were done with the hot springs, we ventured back to our hotel to lounge by the pool and enjoy a a tropical drink.

The second half of our trip was spent in Guancaste at Los Altos de Eros. We both got deep tissue massages at Los Altos which were painful ,but therapeutic. The employees at Los Altos are awesome. They know how to make everyone happy! We spent every day in this area going to the beach and relaxing. Playa Conchal is one of my favorite beaches I’ve been to. There were barely any tourists and you have to drive over some water to get there. 🙂

Beaches we went to: Playa Conchal, Playa Flamingo, Tamarindo, Playa Avellanas

I’ll be back!
