I love sunscreen. Okay, well I guess I have a love/hate relationship with sunblock. I love that it protects my fair skin from the sun. I hate having to apply it and re-apply it. Since Summer is almost here, I decided to round up some of my favorite sunscreens.
Coola Suncare is amazing. On beach days, I like to apply their SPF 30 Cucumber Face Sunblock. I love the smell of it and it sinks into the skin nicely leaving it nice and smooth without a greasy sunblock look at the beach. I just noticed while perusing their website that they came out with a SPF 50 face! I’ll have to give that a try when my SPF 30 starts running out. On regular days that I’m not going to the beach, I always apply Burt’s Bees Renewal Day Lotion with SPF 30 to my face. I usually buy this at Target in person. I wear it on its own or layered under my makeup.
For my body, I kinda mix it up with different Coola Suncare products. I like the Citrus Mimosa scent and the unscented available (here, here, here, and here). I’m not afraid to use baby sunscreen on myself. However, it’s important to note that the baby formula is thicker than their other sunscreens so it can get all over your swimsuit. So, I’d suggest avoiding the baby sunscreen. It looks like they have a cucumber smell available for the body too. I haven’t tried it yet, but I bet it’s good since the face one is. I like to order directly off their website because most other vendors don’t have as large of a selection. I love that their sunscreens go on nicely and are easy application for men with body hair. Application is a lot neater and blendable. During the summertime, I always apply sunblock to my decolletage and shoulders before leaving the house. Sometimes, I will do more than that, but those are the places that collect sun as quickly as my face does.
For my hands on a non-beach day, I use the Supergoop Forever Young Hand Cream. This is a great day time hand lotion. I keep one in my bathroom and one in my cubicle at work. I WANT TO BE FOREVER YOUNG. Since that’s not realistic, this hand cream is the next best thing. 😉
Another thing I’d like to note is that I did not include any eye creams with an SPF in it. The reason for this is because I have very sensitive skin and do not react well to eye products with SPF in them. If you’re not a delicate flower like I am, I suggest checking out Supergoop’s Anti-Aging Eye Cream. It has SPF 37 in it! What a great wrinkle prevention! I have to settle with large polarized sunglasses to protect my eye area instead.
One thing I’m still lost on is how to re-apply or touch up sunblock during the middle of the work day. If I apply my sunblock in the morning under my makeup and then go outside a few hours later on my lunch break, then the sunblock has worn off. My nose can get a bit red. I can wear a baseball cap for protection, but I’m on the hunt for maybe a SPF powder to touch up the face during a workday. Does this exist? I’ve googled before, but can’t find anything that exists with good reviews. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for me regarding this. Thank you!
*Update! I just found this link with some suggestions I might try. I’ll report back later!
